Wooden Deck Performance & Decay: Quality Standards

This case study assessed a wooden deck made with refractory treated materials that struggled to reach specified penetration targets. A deck built in Jinju in 2009, using pressure and treated refractory materials, was evaluated. The penetration and retention results did not meet the domestic standard for treated wood. A 2019 inspection found decay fungi: cap rails showed deeper and wider checking than top and base rails, leading to severe fungal attack, and the decking boards showed severe fungal decay mainly at the ends.
